Obituary for Richard Whittaker

Richard (Dick) Whittaker passed away on January 26th surrounded by his loving family at the AC Trauma Center following a critical injury that occurred while doing what he loved best. He was born and raised in Margate, NJ, resided in Absecon for 20 years and has lived in Mays Landing for the past 28 years.

He was predeceased by his precious daughter Dorie, his parents, Albert & Edna Whittaker, his Aunt Birdie and siblings Virginia, Albert, Dorothy and Charles. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 55 years Doris and his daughters, Donna Falco (Jay) of Lincroft, NJ and Joan (Jeffrey) of Mays Landing. His adoring grandchildren Kristen & John Falco and Hillary & Nicole Monroe, step grandchildren Tyler & Nathan Ballinger, step great grandson Jaxson Ballinger, Siblings Ruth Appel, William Whittaker (Jackie) and Jane McCarrich (Tom), as well as his in-laws Notral Whittaker, Marie & Bill Bartelt & Ruth Bugdon and dozens of loving nieces and nephews.

He was an amazing carpenter who worked at Pacemaker Boat works for 22 years and then retired after 28 years of service from Atlantic County Public Works in 2007. He loved to work with his hands and was never to busy or tired to help his family and friends do whatever needed to be done. He loved to ride his quad and playing with his “best bud” Ginger.

A viewing will be held at Boakes Funeral Home in Mays Landing on Sat, Feb. 2nd from 2:00-5:00 immediately followed by a service at 5:00.

Donations can be made in his name to either the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 420, Mays Landing, NJ 08330 or the Humane Society of Atlantic County, 1401 Absecon Blvd., Atlantic City, NJ 08401.
